Call for Artists:
Acting Out Awareness in collaboration with Amnesty International is seeking actors, musicians, dancers, visual artists, and community activists to help raise awareness about enforced disappearances in Sri Lanka. Amnesty International estimates there have been at least 60,000 and as many as 100,000 cases of enforced disappearance in Sri Lanka. The victims include human rights defenders, aid workers, journalists, government critics, and prominent community leaders. The families of the disappeared continue to seek answers regarding their missing loved ones. The evening will feature poetry readings, music, and dance with the goal of bringing attention to the issue of enforced disappearances.
We are seeking artists of Sri Lankan or South Asian descent who would like to share their talents and help raise awareness for this important issue. Community members or activists are also encourage to apply.
If interested, please send us a brief email at applyATactingoutawareness.org about why you would like to be involved along with any relevant prior work history.
